Guidelines – For the enjoyment of all the participants and to ensure the smooth running of the centre, we have drawn up the following guidelines. We take care of all the mundane tasks for the centre – shopping, cleaning, vacuuming the pool, maintaining the gardens and, of course, offering you our delicious French cuisine – to leave you free to create or just enjoy the wonderful surroundings. All we ask is that you keep the place clean and tidy, and free of stress for your fellow guests.

Guidelines Dog

Bon Appetit!

Quiet Hours:  No one is to make a noise in the common areas within the New Barn. Any sound in the bedrooms should be kept to a minimum. This guideline is relaxed on the last day of the week (travel day).

9 a.m. to 12 noon

2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

10 p.m. to 7 a.m.

During a Writers’ Retreat there should be silence in the Writing Room during the morning and afternoon sessions. Breaks should be taken outside on the terrace unless it is raining.

Any discussions should take place in the garden where there is shade and furniture.

Swimming Pool: The gate to the pool enclosure is to be kept bolted at all times. No glasses or bottles in the pool enclosure – tins or plastic mugs only. House towels may not be used for the pool – please bring a swimming towel with you. Respect should be shown to the other users.

No smoking in any of the buildings. This is a legal requirement in France. Cigarettes butts to be put in the containers provided.

All guests should keep the common areas clear of personal items. We provide a desk with drawers and private cupboard space in the Writing Room/Studio for each guest.

No food or drink in the bedrooms. Each guest is allocated half a shelf in the communal fridge for personal treats.

The kitchen downstairs is to be kept clean. Breakfast things are to be cleared away from the terrace and stacked neatly in the kitchen.

Bedrooms are to be kept tidy. No wet towels on the floor. Guests make their own beds and keep the showers and loos clean during the week. This means spraying round the shower when you finish, hanging up the shower mat to dry and giving the loo a brush when necessary.

We do not give refunds. However, if a resident is unable to come after he/she had paid, we will do our best to fill that room with another guest and in that case will refund payment. If we are unable to find someone else to fill that room we do our best to transfer the reservation to another period during the same calendar year, pending availability. You are reminded that it is wise to take out travel and cancellation insurance.

We expect our guests to respect the tranquil and inspiring environment we provide and the right of others to the same enjoyment. However, should a guest fail to show such respect, the management reserves the right to ask him/her to leave at any time (without a refund).

Damage must be paid for.

The guidelines above are there to provide a framework within which all guests can co-exist without friction. Writers can write, artists can paint and holiday makers can take a siesta in peace in the afternoons.
